River Bend is a quaint town nestled in the foothills of North Carolina. The city has been around since 1881 when George Washington Vanderbilt built his Biltmore Estate on top of the mountain overlooking River Bend. Today, River Bend is known for its picturesque landscape and historic buildings like Stetson University, founded in 1884 with land donated by Henry Flagler (of Standard Oil fame). It's just an hour away from Charlotte, so it's easy to access by car or bike if you don't have time for a long drive down Interstate 95. You can also visit one of America’s oldest bookstores that opened up shop before World War II: Books & Company! If you're looking for something different from the usual tourist attractions, then head over to River Bend's new museum dedicated solely to Thomas Alva Edison and his inventions like light bulbs or phonographs.
